Women's Fellowship Purpose and Scope:
"The purpose of the Women’s Fellowship shall be to unite all women of
the Moravian Church in a Christian fellowship to make Christ known
throughout the world, and to develop a personal responsibility for the
whole task of the church."
"The
scope of the work of the Women’s Fellowship shall be the needs and
interests of today’s women and the concerns and responsibilities of
today’s church in today’s world. The Women’s Fellowship shall sponsor
spiritual growth, mission education, outreach, and service."
From: Handbook of the Moravian Women’s
Fellowship, Southern Province."
Membership:
The
membership includes all women members of Macedonia Moravian Church and
friends, although, some members are inactive. The Women’s Fellowship of
Macedonia Moravian Church is divided into two circles of active members
- the Lola Douthit Circle and the Dorcas Circle. Lola Douthit was a
faithful member of our church, whose life and witness have been
memorialized through a circle bearing her name. Dorcas is mentioned in
Acts 9 as an early Christian noted for charitable deeds.
The
Dorcas and Lola Douthit circles meet monthly usually at the homes of
individual members on the second Monday night of each month except for
the months when there are quarterly general meetings (January, May,
August and December) in which both circles join together at the church.
The meetings begin at 7:00 pm. Elected officers lead each circle, and
there are officers for the Fellowship as a whole. Each circle has a
Bible study book for the year.
Some
of the activities of the Women’s Fellowship include bake sales, annual
bazaar and the making of the Christmas candles. The individual circles
also have smaller projects that they perform.
We invite all women joining
the church to visit the circles and become part of the Women’s
Fellowship of Macedonia. For more information, contact Martha Wilson.
